Are you a foreign national living in Estrela borough?

You have the right to enrol on the electoral register and to vote for:

• City Hall
• Parish Council
• Municipal Assembly

Who can vote?

• Citizens of the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden);
• Citizens of Brazil and Cape Verdewho have been legal residents for over 2 years;
• Citizens of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, who have been legal residents for over 3 years.

(As long as they are over 18 and legally resident in Portugal)

• Where can you register?

Voter registration is free and must be done in person.

You should go to your local voter registration office, which is the Parish Council of your area of residence, and fill out the voter registration form.

If you live in Estrela, you have several options:

• Junta de Freguesia de Estrela in Rua Almeida Brandão, 39 from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm;
• At the Academy Counter on Rua do Quelhas, 32 from 14 to 31 July from 5pm to 8pm;
• At the Library Kiosk in Estrela Garden on weekends from 19 July to 10 August from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm;
• At the Service Point in Santos Garden on the weekends of 19-20 and 26-27 July from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.

Documents required:

• Identification document (for citizens of European Union member countries);
• Residence permit (for citizens of Brazil, Cape Verde, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Peru, United Kingdom, Uruguay or Venezuela);
• Proof of address – if the previous document does not contain an address, you can provide other proof, such as a tenancy agreement or water/electricity receipt.
